Your Benefits
Health Benefits
DallasNews Corporation offers medical, dental and vision plans for you and your eligible dependents. The company shares the cost of medical and dental benefits by paying a portion of your premiums.
Disability Coverage
The company provides long-term disability coverage so you will have income if you cannot work because of an illness or injury.
Life and AD&D Coverage
Eligible employees automatically receive basic life insurance and business travel accident insurance, which are paid for by the company. You may increase the level of your life insurance coverage, add accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance coverage and elect life and AD&D insurance protection for your spouse and children at an additional cost.
Voluntary Benefits
The company offers voluntary auto and home insurance, critical illness insurance, a group legal plan, and legal and identity theft coverage. You pay the full cost of these benefits.
Health Savings Account
If you enroll in the BlueCross BlueShield of Texas Consumer-Driven Health Plan (BCBSTX CDHP) and are eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA), you can take advantage of tax savings by making tax-free contributions to the HSA to pay for eligible medical, dental and vision care expenses. Depending on your salary, DallasNews Corporation also makes a company contribution to your HSA. All of the money in the account is yours to keep, even if you leave the company, and any unused balance in your account rolls over year to year. You do not owe taxes on your contributions, your qualified withdrawals or any investment earnings.
Flexible Spending Accounts
You can also take advantage of tax savings by making before-tax contributions to flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to pay for health care and dependent care expenses. If you enroll in the CDHP and participate in an HSA, you may only use the Limited-Purpose FSA, which reimburses you for eligible dental and vision expenses.
Severance Plan
DallasNews Corporation also has adopted a severance plan that provides benefits to eligible employees whose employment is involuntarily terminated.
